Children are the "key ingredient" in changing the way Americans eat. It is our commitment at Batter Up Kids to develop recipes and culinary programs which encourage children to participate and celebrate the joys of cooking. We strive to bring children, families, and communities together to make a positive health-conscious difference in our next generation of cooks!
Barbara Beery, Founder
In 1991, Barbara founded Batter Up Kids in Austin, Texas. With a degree in elementary education from the University of Texas and a passion for cooking, Barbara Beery has combined her talents to create a children's culinary center extraordinaire.
Barbara is the 2006 official spokesperson for Sun-Maid Raisins, a contributing
recipe writer to FamilyFun Magazine, the Great American Bake Sale, and the
Texas Department of Agriculture. She is a member of the International Association
of Culinary Professionals and Women Chefs and Restaurateurs. Barbara has been
a featured guest on over 40 nationally syndicated radio shows, appeared in the
Every Day with Rachael Ray Magazine, and has been a guest on the Food
